Garapa (apuleia leiocarpa) climate shield rainscreen siding is a kiln-dried and “clear” grade – free of knots and sap. Garapa is a dense exotic South American hardwood that is a great choice for decking and exterior applications because it is resistant to rot, decay, splinters and scratches. With proper care and maintenance, expect decades of enjoyment out of your Garapa rainscreen siding.

As the wood naturally weathers, it takes on a light silver/gray patina, which means there is no need to apply stains or sealers annually if you want minimal maintenance. Garapa is one of the few commercial hardwoods available that’s light-colored while at the same time being decay-resistant for exterior applications. Most other exterior woods are much darker in color, with the exception of much softer cedar wood.
